December 30, 2012 - January 8, 2013
Our Unforgettable Rio tour is just that: unforgettable. Travelers will explore the richness and depth of local culture in Rio de Janeiro, as well as experience a Brazilian party that is second only to Carnaval: New Year’s Eve at Copacabana Beach! After relaxing on the beaches of Rio, we’ll head off to the historic city of Búzios to dance to the Afro-Brazilian beat! An ideal balance between awesome festivities and low-key beach days.
Arrive in Rio de Janeiro. You will be welcomed by Founder and Tour Conductor Rigo, who will meet you at your hotel (transportation from the airport to the hotel will be arranged).
After breakfast, we will get a lay of the land by taking a guided tour of Rio. Destinations include the Rio de Janeiro Cathedral, Maracanã Stadium, the Municipal Theatre, Sambadrome, the National Museum of Fine Arts, Sugarloaf Mountain, and the Lapa and Urca neighborhoods. After a lunch of Brazilian BBQ at a churrascaria, we will visit the magnificent Christ the Redeemer Statue, which towers over the entire city.
Pack your sunblock, because day three is all about the beach! We’ll start the day off by hitting Copacabana Beach, perfect for people-watching. In the afternoon, we’ll drink Caipirinhas and Batidas at Ipanema Beach and visit Leblon neighborhood.
We’ll spend New Year’s Eve 2011 partying back at Copacabana beach, where we’ll experience the world famous countdown and 30 minute firework show.
New Year’s Eve in Rio can get pretty loco- taking it easy on the beach is exactly what the doctor ordered!
An easygoing day of walking, shopping and exploring. We’ll stroll along the winding, narrow streets of the artistic Santa Teresa neighborhood. We can see Picassos at the Múseu Chácara do Céu, wander through the ruins at Parque das Ruinas, and visit the Escadaria Celeron.
We’ll spend the day at the beach, and in the evening we we’ll sip on cocktails at Rio Scenarium, considered one of the10 best bars in the world.
A leisurely travel day to Búzios. Once the stronghold of pirates and slave traders, the spectacular beaches of Búzios were popularized by Brigitte Bardot in the 1960s. Prepare for world-class seafood, surfing and nightlife.
Discover the town of Búzios and the surrounding area: In the morning, a boat tour around Arraial do Cabo and in the afternoon, a historic tour of Cabo Frio, including shopping at “Bikini Street.” (Just bikinis!)
Last call for relaxation: we’ll spend day 9 catching some final rays at the beach.
Travel back to Rio de Janeiro, and back to the U.S. Tchau, amigos!
