BOOK NOW

The 14-day Brazil Sensational tour presents the best of both worlds: world-class urban attractions and fantastic natural wonders. After discovering the metropolis of Rio de Janiero, travelers enjoy the easygoing charm of historic Salvador and the island village of Morro de São Paulo. The tour culminates by taking in the magnificence of Iguaçu Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in the world. Sensacional!

Day 1

Arrive in Rio de Janeiro. You will be welcomed by Founder and Tour Conductor Rigo, who will meet you at your hotel (transportation from the airport to the hotel will be arranged).

Day 2

After breakfast, we’ll get a lay of the land by taking a guided tour of Rio. Destinations include the Rio de Janeiro Cathedral, Maracanã Stadium, the Municipal Theatre, Sambadrome, the National Museum of Fine Arts, Sugarloaf Mountain, and the Lapa and Urca neighborhoods. After a lunch at a Brazilian BBQ (know in Brazil as a churrascaria), we will visit the magnificent Christ the Redeemer Statue, which towers over the entire city.

Day 3

Pack your sunblock, because day three is all about the beach! We’ll start the day off by hitting Copacabana Beach, perfect for people-watching. In the afternoon, we’ll drink Caipirinhas and Batidas at Ipanema Beach and visit Leblon neighborhood.

Group dinner at a Brazilian restaurant (Optional) – sample the local cuisine and get a feel for Brazilian nightlife.  Following dinner, everyone will head to Lapa neighborhood to catch a live music show at the world famous Rio Scenarium nightclub.

Day 4

An easygoing day of walking, shopping and exploring. We’ll stroll along the winding, narrow streets of the artistic Santa Teresa neighborhood. We can see the original works of Picassos at the Múseu Chácara do Céu, wander through the ruins at Parque das Ruinas, and visit the Escadaria Celeron.

Day 5

After breakfast, we’ll convene and travel to Salvador, known as Brazil’s capital of happiness. Located in the Northeast region of Bahia, Salvador is one of the oldest cities in the Americas. This center of Afro-Brazilian culture is known for its outdoor parties, street carnivals and chilled-out attitude.

Day 6

Salvador boasts over 50 km of coastline. In the morning, we’ll take a tour of the beaches around the city. In the afternoon, we can explore the Pelourinho, Salvador’s historic center. If we’re lucky, we’ll be able to catch a performance of the famous percussion group Olodum!

Day 7

You guessed it - day 7 is all about sea turtles. We’ll travel to the town of Praia do Forte and spend most of the day visiting Projeto TAMAR, a non-profit that protects sea turtles from extinction. We’ll learn about the delicate ecosystem of the Brazilian coastline, and about the dangers posed to ocean life in that region.

Day 8

From Salvador, we’ll travel to Morro de São Paulo via catamaran (approximately 2 hours from Salvador by boat). Morro de São Paulo is one of the 5 villages of the island Tinharé, accessible only by boat or by short charter flights. Cars are not allowed on the island, so we’ll spend the day exploring the village on foot.

Day 9

On day 9, we’ll take a boat out to the middle of the ocean, stopping to explore some natural pools created by ocean reefs. Bring your snorkels – these pools are packaged with incredible marine life – think National Geographic!  In the afternoon, we’ll visit an oyster farm, where a local will catch fresh oysters for us to feast on.

Day 10

Beach day! Morro de São Paulo’s beaches are famous for their immaculate white sand and crystal water. Sun, fun, and relaxation - the quintessential Brazilian life.

Day 11

We’ll return to the beach in the morning for more R & R.  In the afternoon, we’ll take the boat back to Salvador and fly to Iguaçu Falls, arriving in the evening.

Day 12

Pack your camera, sun block, and a change of clothes – it’s going to be an incredible day! First thing, we’ll get on the Iguaçu River and take a Macuco Safari, a boat ride that approaches the base of the falls: not for the faint of heart! In the afternoon, we’ll walk for about 1.5 mile until we reach the “Devil’s Throat,” the largest cataract of the falls.

Day 13

On the morning of Day 12, visit the Parque das Aves, a bird park home to hundreds of different birds and butterflies. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Itaipu Dam on the border of Brazil and Paraguay, the largest operating hydroelectric facility in the world. Later in the evening, we’ll fly to Rio de Janeiro and check in to a hotel for our last evening in Brazil.
